Manas Airport: the BSZ code and how to check your ticket
Three new letters, the same airport. How to read your route and what to check if a saved itinerary still says FRU.
The essentials
BSZ identifies Manas Airport in Bishkek and replaced FRU in August 2025. Check the code alongside the city, date and flight number. If an old itinerary contains discrepancies, request current confirmation from your ticket seller.
BSZ is the IATA code for Manas Airport in Bishkek. It replaced FRU in August 2025. When you see BSZ while choosing a flight, check the city and airport name beside it: Bishkek, Manas.
FRU and BSZ: what changed?
The airport's three-letter identifier in ticketing systems changed. That does not, by itself, mean your flight moved to another airport. FRU may still appear on old itineraries, saved emails and reference pages.
The change was announced for 9 August 2025. On 11 August, state news agency Kabar published Airports of Kyrgyzstan's announcement that the change had taken place. This explains why both dates appear in reports about the transition.
How to read the route line
Bishkek · Manas · BSZ
City · airport name · IATA code
This is an illustrative route line, not a real ticket. On your own itinerary, check the date, flight number, the other city's airport and the local departure time as well as the three-letter code. A city name alone does not identify which of its airports you need.
What if an old ticket says FRU?
- Open the latest booking confirmation from your ticket seller.
- Compare the passenger name, date, flight number and departure city.
- If FRU remains or you find other discrepancies, ask the seller for an updated itinerary and confirmation of the booking status.
An old code alone proves neither that a flight is cancelled nor that a particular ticket remains valid. Do not buy a second ticket solely because of the code: check the existing booking first. For tickets purchased through our service, use order lookup.
How to search for a new flight
Select Bishkek from the city list on the flight booking page. If another service does not recognise FRU, try BSZ or the city name. Check the entire itinerary before paying, especially for connecting journeys.
Does airport preparation change?
The code change does not replace your usual checks: review flight updates, travel documents, baggage conditions and check-in times. Use your booking confirmation and airline notifications for information about your particular departure.
Updated after the transition to BSZ. The original publication date is retained; this guide helps you check a ticket but does not confirm its status.
